The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama during a conversation with young people explained that climate change is a serious threat like the Coronavirus pandemic. His Holiness while acknowledging that the pandemic is one serious threat we face today, the climate change and global warming are other very serious issues!
“Today, the pandemic is one threat we face,” he remarked during the virtual conversation, “another very serious issue is climate change and global warming. Scientists have predicted that if we don’t act to stop it, in the coming decades water sources, rivers and lakes, may dry up. An additional problem that will have to be addressed is the growing gap between rich and poor. Tackling these difficult circumstances will require that we work together.”
His Holiness the Dalai Lama spoke about Conflict, COVID and Compassion to the young peace-builders associated with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). This is an annual program that takes place at the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in North India. Due to the pandemic, this year’s program took place virtually.
During the conversation, His Holiness stressed united effort towards building a peaceful world. Using the spirit of European Union as an example, he explained that working together by setting differences aside will help the peace prevail in this world. His Holiness also reiterated about the principle commitments of his life.
