Chinese man who murdered his Tibetan wife was sentenced to death

 

Dharamshala, 14th October: Remember the Tibetan woman who is BURNED alive by her Chinese Husband? Well after a long period of time and with difficulty he was sentenced to death. Lhamo being a minority is given little attention for her misfortune. Lhamo was a well-known vlogger, she was burned alive while she was live-streaming. The Chinese man Tang Lu was convicted of murdering his divorced Tibetan wife at the Abe Prefecture Intermediate People’s Court in the southwestern province of Sichuan, according to China’s state broadcaster CCTV. The death penalty was promptly imposed.

Tang and Lhamo divorced in the middle of 2020, and three months later, on September 14, Tang paid an unannounced visit to her home on the Tibetan plateau, armed with a knife and a bucket of gasoline. While she was live-streaming, he doused his ex-wife in gasoline and lit her on fire. The 30-year-old mother of two died two weeks later.

The attack’s public nature and sheer severity startled the whole world. As more information about Lhamo’s case became available, many individuals concluded that the system had failed her. And being a Tibetan, an ethnic minority in China, is given lower priority in the Chinese court. Lhamo’s older sister, Dolma, claimed that Lhamo had gone to the police twice but had been turned down because it was a “family affair.”

The beatings began soon after Lhamo and Tang married, and at first, Lhamo was hesitant to tell her family about them. But it got to the point where Lhamo confided in her sister Dolma, who attempted unsuccessfully to get Tang to stop. Tang dislocated Lhamo’s shoulder following a poker game in one incident.

Lhamo had taken safety at a relative’s home in May, according to one event recorded by the Post in December 2020. Tang approached Dolma at a souvenir shop in search of her and hit her in the face, shattering her jaw.

Lhamo was granted a divorce, but she later returned to Tang after he threatened to murder their sons. She filed for divorce again after he continued to beat her, but Tang was granted custody of the two boys.
