A Tibetan nurse has been felicitated the Best all round nurse award for exemplary vocational service. A Tibetan woman in Darjeeling, India has been been awarded with the Rotary Vocational Service Award on last Saturday. The Rotary club recognizes individuals making exemplary contributions to the community in their respective vocations.
Lhamo Yangzom is a nurse at D&DMA hospital in Darjeeling who has actively engaged in various community welfare programs. The Rotary Club in Darjeeling decided to recognized Mrs. Yangzom’s selfless service to the community and the way in which she dedicated herself to bring glory and honour to her profession as a nurse.
In an award ceremony at the Hotel Little Tibet in Darjeeling on Saturday evening, Mrs, Yangzom was presented with the award. She has expressed her happiness on receiving recognition for her service and thanked the Rotary club through a post on her social media page. Rotary International celebrates the month of October as a month in which it honour its own vocations and professions.
Lhamo born in Ladakh completed her school from TCV in Dharamshala and obtained her nursing degree from Bangalore. Since starting her career as a nurse in 2009, she has been actively engaged with the ‘Clinic on Wheels’ and various medical camps in remote areas. Nursing is a very popular career option among Tibetan youths and a large number of Tibetan nurses are offering their services across India.
