His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Jammu on Saturday as he set off from his exile home, Dharamshala for a one day visit to the J&K state to address the first convocation ceremony of the Central University of Jammu on Sunday. His Holiness on arrival to the state spoke to the reporters and advised to always keep peace in mind.
The Tibetan spiritual leader was given a warm reception from the Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjay along with Advisor to the Chief Minister Prof Amitabh Mattoo on her behalf. His Holiness conveyed his warm greetings to the people of Jammu & Kashmir while speaking to the media and advised to always keep peace in mind.
“I want to express special greetings and prayers for people of the State. We should always keep peace of mind and should not let anger overtake us. Anger always brings disaster and prevents us from using our intelligence effectively therefore preventing us from finding solutions to difficult situations” His Holiness the Dalai Lama said according to the report in the Daily Excelsior.
His Holiness is scheduled to address the first convocation ceremony of the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) on Sunday, March 18, during which PhD degrees, PG degrees, gold medals and merit certificates would be conferred on the candidates who had successfully completed their study programmes till the year 2017.
The University officials “decision of inviting His Holiness Dalai Lama to the convocation has been taken in view of the prevailing instability in J&K. He has been awarded with the Noble Prize for peace and there is a dire need for peace and stability in the state,” Prof Ashok Aima, CUJ Vice Chancellor informed.
