Chinese embassy warns Indian legislators for attending a Tibet-related event.

Dharamshala, 1st January 2022: The Chinese embassy has sent an angry letter to some Indian parliamentarians and ministers who attended a meeting hosted by the Tibetan government in exile. Jairam Ramesh, Manish Tiwari, Sujeet Kumar, Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Ramdas Athawale, and Maneka Gandhi were among the Indian MPs that attended the meeting.

In a letter to Indian MPs, Zhou Yongsheng, Political Counsellor, Chinese Embassy to India, urges them not to associate with an “out-and-out separatist political group and an unlawful organization.” “The Indian government has recognized that the Tibet Autonomous Region is part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China,” it continues, adding that Beijing “strongly opposes any anti-China separatist operations conducted by “Tibetan independence” forces in any capacity.”

China views the letter as wolf warrior diplomacy, part of a global trend by its diplomats who have done so in the past and around the world. The message chastised, in a disparaging tone, “You are a prominent politician with extensive knowledge of China-India ties. It is hoped that you will recognize the sensitivity of the situation and refrain from assisting “Tibetan independence” forces “.

The letter was not received by all MPs. “Neither have I received any letter, nor will I humiliate or shrink myself by responding to such idiotic missives,” remarked MP Manish Tiwari, who was present at the occasion. If Wang Yi had written, I might have considered responding.”

Meanwhile, the Tibetan government in exile has responded decisively to the news. Tenzin Lekshay, the spokesperson for the Central Tibetan Administration, said in a series of tweets, “Tibet issue is certainly not an internal issue of China. Whatever happens in Tibet is a serious matter of concern for all the people around the world.” “China must stop growling here & there all the time,” he added.

It’s not the first time the Chinese embassy has delivered such a letter; in the past, it sent one to MP Sujeet Kumar for attending a Taiwan government meeting. Rajya Sabha: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) The China Embassy in New Delhi has written to MP Sujeet Kumar, requesting that he refrain from participating in Taiwan’s so-called Formosa Club. The major goal of Taiwan’s The Formosa Club, which was founded by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is to strengthen friendship with Indo-Pacific countries and ensure peace and stability in the region.
