Dharamshala, 13th December: According to a report by tibet.net, on the 10th of December 2021, the world celebrated the 32nd anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Similarly, Tibet Support Groups in India observed the day with pomp and gaiety, while also organizing activities and programs to raise awareness of the Tibet issue among the general public, as the day is also observed as International Human Rights Day.

On this occasion, the India Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS) held an event at the Riverfront Tibetan Sweater Market in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in collaboration with the Tibetan Sweater Market Association. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were Shri Kiritbhai Parmar, Mayor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, and Shri Hemant Bhatt, MJ Library Member. During the program, ITFS Ahmedabad Executives Dr. Mahendra Sanghpal, who is also the Regional Convener of Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India, and Dr. Amit Jyotikar were present, along with other Tibet Supporters and Tibetan Sweater Sellers.
ITFS and the Tibetan Sweater Market Association celebrated the day in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, with a program presided over by Smt. Resham Bala, ITFS Jodhpur District President, and Ms. Kalsang, Chairman of the Tibetan Sweater Market Association, thanked the people of Jodhpur for their support and cooperation for the Tibetan refugee.
ITFS hosted an event in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, chaired by Shri Sudesh Kumar, Regional Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India, which drew hundreds of intellectuals and Tibet supporters. During the program, Dr. Bansidhar Rukhaiyar, Registrar, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, was the Chief Guest.
On the occasion, ITFS held a lecture at M. P. S. Science College in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, titled “Human Rights and Tibet,” which was led by Shri Surendra Kumar, National Co-Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India.
ITFS Member Shri J. P. Urs, Regional Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India, along with Mysore Tibetan Students Association and Tibet Supporters, observed the day in Mysore, Karnataka.
ITFS marked the day in Bhandara, Maharashtra, in the presence of significant local leaders, Tibet Supporters, and Tibetan Sweater Sellers. The program was presided over by Shri Amrut Bansod, President, ITFS Nagpur, and members prayed for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s long life and good health, as well as the success of Tibbat Mukti Sadhana in the near future.
Nagpur, Delhi, Bomdila, Meerut, Salugara, Gangtok, Bangalore, and Parbhani was among the cities that observed the day.
