Swiss Parliamentary Group for Tibet considers a wide range of concerns.

Dharamshala, 12th December: On the fringes of the Swiss Parliament’s Winter Session on Tuesday, the Swiss Parliamentary Group for Tibet convened and reviewed action plans for Tibet, according to the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). At the conference, they covered a wide range of topics, including the current situation in Tibet, the situation of Tibetan asylum seekers who have been refused, and future action plans for Tibet, as per the CTA.

Following the discussion, the legislators joined a campaign organized by Swiss-based civil society organizations calling for a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, according to CTA’s official website. Nicholas Walder and Fabian Molina, the group’s co-presidents, as well as members Maya Graf and Katharina Preliez-Huber, attended the meeting.

The conference was attended by Tibet Bureau representatives Chhimey Rigzen and Kalden Tsomo, President of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein Karma Choekyi, and representatives from the Swiss-Tibetan Friendship Association Lhawang Ngorkangsar and Uwe Meya.

Tibet activists target IOC meeting in Switzerland:

An International Olympic Committee (IOC)-hosted a conference during which Tibetan students attempted to disrupt on Saturday in a protest against the Beijing Winter Games.

Local police were called to help stop the demonstrators, who continued to sit outside the building in Lausanne, Switzerland, holding banners that read “Boycott Genocide Games” next to the iconic Olympic rings symbol. Pro-Tibet organizations are part of a larger coalition of activists protesting the Beijing Olympics from February 4 to 20, citing China’s human rights record, particularly the oppression of the Tibetan people, democratic rights in Hong Kong, and military intimidation of Taiwan.
