Dharamshala, 30th May: The Himachal Pradesh government on Friday prolonged the coronavirus ban until June 7 but made concessions, such as extending shop opening hours. From May 31, the Himachal government will enable all stores and other institutions to open for five hours a day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., five days a week. On Saturday and Sunday, however, stores selling daily necessities such as fruits, vegetables, milk, milk products, pharmacies, and other necessities are allowed to open for five hours. Previously, only three hours per day were allowed for necessary goods shops to open. All educational institutions in the state, however, will stay closed. Similarly, public transportation will be suspended until additional directives are issued.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the Central Government has allocated 1,67,180 doses of covishield to patients in the state aged 18 to 44. Similarly, he added, the Central Government increased the quota for free vaccination supply by 46,630 doses in response to a request from the State Government. He stated that as much as 2,99,400 doses of covisheild would be made available to the state under the free vaccination supply for the first two weeks of June.
Himachal Covid cases:
On Friday, Himachal reported 64 deaths and 1523 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total death toll to 3040 and the total number of cases to 187342. According to the health bulletin, 3148 persons have recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of persons who have recovered to 18495 in the state. Kangra, which remains the state’s worst-affected area, reported a total of 420 new cases.
COVID-19 has resulted in a total of 898 fatalities in Kangra, followed by 549 fatalities in Shimla in the state. Kangra has the most active cases in the state, with 5220, followed by Shimla district with 2038 active cases, according to the bulletin.
Meanwhile, two men who were being treated for black fungus in a Himachal Pradesh hospital died on Friday. According to an official spokesman, they were being treated for black fungus, also known as mucormycosis, at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) hospital here.
