Senior Indian Leader’s Presence at Tibetan soldier’s Funeral a Clear Message to China

Ram Madhav, general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, attended the funeral paid his last respect to Nyima Tenzin, who was martyred during the latest Indo-China border skirmish. This has openly sent a clear message to China that India is shifting from its tradition position. The senior leader from BJP was in Leh to attend the 1st state executive meeting of the party.

The presence of senior leader from a ruling party is seen by many as a possible shift in the Government of India’s policy on publicly acknowledging the existence of Special Frontier Force and acknowledging the role played by the covert force in capturing dominating features near the southern bank of Pangong Tso in the Chushul sector.

In a tweet, which was later deleted. the BJP leader said, “Attended the funeral of SFF Company Leader Nyima Tenzin, a Tibetan who laid down his life protecting our borders in Ladakh, Let the sacrifices of such valiant soldiers bring peace along the Indo-Tibetan border. That will be the real tribute to all martyrs.”

The senior leader also attended the “Thank You India” event along with Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma, which was later shifted to McLeodganj from New Delhi after the Indian government directed its officials to stay away from it, citing “sensitive time” for relations between India and China.

The fallen soldier of the Special Frontier Force (SFF), was cremated with full Tibetan Buddhism ritual and a final farewell with a 21-gun salute Monday. The covert force is made up of Tibetan refugees in India and they have accomplished important covert missions for India in the past.
