One Tibetan Soldier Dead, Two Injured in Latest Border Clash Between India and China

One Tibetan Soldier was Killed and Two Injured as India and China Faceoff on the south bank of Pangong Tso, Ladakh.

Tension has risen over the border between India and China with both sides blaming each other for provocative military movement to change the status quo. The incident occurred on the night of 29-30 august on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on the South bank of Pangong lake.

According to reports, Chinese soldier infiltrate into the Indian side of LAC through the south bank of the Pangong Tso and occupied the height of Helmet Top and Black, according to sources, The Indian army retaliates on the night of 30th August by deploying the SFF.

The Indian Army on Monday morning released a statement stating  “On the Night of 29/30 August 2020, PLA troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo. Indian troops pre-empted this PLA activity on the Southern Bank of Pangong Tso Lake, undertook measures to strengthen our positions and thwart Chinese intentions to unilaterally change facts on ground”


While the Statement did not mention the involvement of Special frontier force(SFF) in the operation, sources confirmed the Death of a Company leader of 07 Vikas, Nyima Tenzin who hails from Sonamling Tibetan Settlement in Ladakh. Initial report suggests The officer was killed by a mine explosive while on recce along the Pangong Lake, he is survived by his wife and two sons.

Special Frontier Force is an elite commando unit and specialised mountain divisions primarily composed of Tibetan refugee in India, The force was Established in 1962 primarily to conduct covert operations behind Chinese lines in the event of another Sino-Indian War.

This comes after three months of military and diplomatic dialogue between Beijing and New Delhi to Deescalate the situation after Indian and Chines soldier clash at Galwan Valley on 15 June which resulted in the death of 20 Indian Soldier and 40 Chinese soldiers (which Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian termed it as false Information).

China, on the other hand, accused Indian troops of violating consensus reach in previous engage and Trespassing into Chinese LAC, spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in India Counselor Ji Rong in an issued statement said: “India’s move has grossly violated China’s territorial sovereignty, seriously violated relevant agreements, protocols and important consensus reached between the two countries, and severely damaged peace and tranquillity along the China-India border areas.

Chinese government mouthpiece Global times quote China’s Western Theatre Command, “Indian troops once again illegally crossed the Line of Actual Control near the south bank of the Pangong Lake and Reqin mountain pass on Monday.”
