In one of the latest statements from Tawain’s Foreign Ministry, it has said that the Chinese government has become a global trouble maker. This statement comes during a period when the whole world is reeling through huge damages caused by the China origin Coronavirus Pandemic. The statement also lashed China to stop interfering with Taiwan.
“The Chinese government has become a global trouble maker” since its deliberate concealment of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has sickened 18 million and killed 700,000 people, said MOFA Spokesperson Joanne Ou on Thursday (Aug. 6) during a press briefing according to Taiwan News. Beijing’s military activities in the region have also created instability, alerting Taiwan, Japan, India, and other countries, she has added.
The spokesperson has further added that China should stop interfering with Taiwan as the island nation advances ties with other countries. She urged the Chinese authorities to instead see why the international community has developed a dislike for its handling of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy protest movement and national security legislation, as well as their oppression of the Uighur people in Xinjiang Province, stated the spokesperson.
Since the Coronavirus outbreak spread from China at the beginning of this year, the highly contagious disease paralyzed the world economy as well as its health systems. Despite exemplary handling of the disease by Taiwan, which only few nations could put up, it was not invited to the World Health Assembly, meeting of the decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO) at the behest of China.
The image of China has been degrading with the outbreak. Apart from the risk of large number of businesses shifting from China to else where, many countries are ending their ties with prominent Chinese companies such as Huawei since these companies require to abide by the communist government’s directives. Data breaches, territory intrusions and concealing important information from the outside world has cost the world a lot and it is not being understood that it is a global trouble maker.
