20 Tibetan Refugee Students Score Above 95% in CBSE Class 12 Results

In a historic feat, 20 Tibetan refugee students have scored above 95% marks in the CBSE class 12 results. The CBSE declared the class 12 exam results on Monday after a prolonged delay due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As students have been waiting anxiously for their most important exam results, the Monday announcement came with a good outcome.

According to the report by the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala, a total of 20 Tibetan students have secured above 95% marks in the class 12 CBSE results. The department announced that the achievement is a historic milestone for the Tibetans and they will be awarded the Sikyong Scholarship Award.

“For the first time since the inception of the prestigious Sikyong Scholarship in 2013, the number of students to receive the award has soared to 20, setting an all-time record for the most number of Tibetan students to score 95 percent and above ever in history. Of the 20 distinguished students, 15 are from Tibetan Homes School, Mussoorie, 2 from Sambhota Tibetan School, Mundgod, 1 each from TCV Selakui, TCV Suja and CST Herbertpur.” said the report published in Tibet.net on Monday.

The President or Sikyong of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay has called the feat as significant achievement. “I would like to congratulate the students on this outstanding achievement and I also congratulate and commend the dedicated teachers and staff of the Department of Education who have worked very hard to support the students,” he has told according to the report.

The Sikyong Scholarship Award has being rolled out to encourage Tibetan students to work harder and perform better in the board exams since 2013. Any student who obtains 95% or higher in the class 12 board exams will be awarded this prestigious scholarship, with a monetary prize of Rupees 100,000 (One Lakh Indian Rupees).
