91% Indians are Willing to Boycott Chinese Goods

In a very welcome response to the call to boycott Chinese goods, 91% of Indians are willing to follow as per a survey. The News18 public sentimeter on China, a public survey by the news agency revealed that 91% Indians are willing to Boycott Chinese goods while 83% of them do not have a favourable view about China.

The campaign to boycott Chinese goods in India has gained a huge momentum recently. Following the infamous credit to China for bringing the Coronavirus pandemic, global mistrust over China has exploded. In India, the public sentiment against China has grown further with Chinese troops disturbing the peace along Indian borders.

Even as the ongoing standoff between India and China continues at LAC, the rise in anti-China sentiments is at an all-time high, reveals the results of the News18 Public Sentimeter on China. 91% Indians are willing to boycott Chinese goods while 83% have very unfavourable opinion about China and more than 95% believe that China has been dishonest in its handling of Coronavirus pandemic. Interestingly more than 50% Indian responded that India should support the aspirations for freedom in Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, as well as recognise Taiwan as a separate nation.

“According to the survey, 83 percent do not have a very favourable opinion about China. The poll, which was conducted over four days, in 13 languages, across 16 websites and a hundred social media channels, elicited around 31,000 responses from across the country. It had questions on topics ranging from Chinese investments here to India’s stance on the US-China standoff.” said the report by News18.

Dr. Lobsang Sangay, President of Exile Tibetan Administration recently explained on an Indian national television channel that there was no tension along the borders for India before China occupied Tibet. Since Chinese invasion of Tibet, there has been border incursions along India’s borders. Tibet issue is the core to solving India China border dispute.
