People of Taiwan Want His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Visit

There is a tremendous sign of solidarity for the Tibetan cause among the people of Taiwan and according to recent news breaks, they want the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit to country. While ruling party chief openly admitted their willingness to invite the Dalai Lama, a petition has been launched for the same.

Democratic Progressive Party Secretary-General Lo Wen-jia at the press conference ahead of a demonstration march commemorating the 60th Tibetan National Uprising Day against Chinese invasion, announced that the country would welcome His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Taiwan.

A petition has been filed by a Taiwanese legislator and it is promoted by groups involved in organizing commemoration march of 60th Tibetan National Uprising Day on March 10, 2019, that calls for the Dalai Lama to be invited back to Taiwan.

“We urge Tsai Ing-wen to extend an invitation to the Dalai Lama to return to Taiwan, and fully cooperate with all necessary diplomatic and security divisions to make it happen. This action would truly exhibit the government’s respect for the values of freedom, democracy and human rights. These three things are universal values and there is no room for ambiguity between them.” said the report in Taiwan News.

The Dalai Lama has visited the island nation on three occasions earlier. His last visit to Taiwan in 2009 came after hundreds of people died due to Typhoon Morakot and he made prayers for the victims.
