In an effort from the Chinese party officials in Tibet to defame the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama, they have insistingly claimed the people of Tibet has no love for him. The party officials in Tibet claim that the Tibetans feel grateful to the Chinese authorities.
China’s Communist Party chief on Wednesday has claimed that the Tibetans in Tibet feel more affectionate toward the Chinese government, rather than their exiled spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Another party official spoke on the same day that in his knowledge there is no adoration for the Dalai Lama among the Tibetans.
Tibet Party Secretary Wu Yingjie said during a meeting of China’s ceremonial legislature the Dalai Lama hasn’t done a “single good thing” for Tibet since he left, according to the report in The Washington Post. The people of Tibet are instead “extremely grateful for the prosperity that the Communist Party has brought them,” he said.
China is insisting such claims ahead of the important date, March 10, 2019, which marks the 60th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day. Since the People’s Liberation Army of China forcefully claimed over Tibet in the 1950s, Tibetans made a massive demonstration on March 10, 1959 against the invaders, following the threats posed against the Dalai Lama’s security in Tibet. This ultimately led to the Dalai Lama’s escape to exile.
Since then there has been continued demonstrations against the Chinese authorities, demanding the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and freedom for Tibetans. Despite severe consequences, such as shooting at site, rigorous imprisonment subjected to unaccountable torture, Tibetans have been making continued demonstrations against China.
As recently as 2008, a national uprising was brought up by the Tibetans in Tibet, demanding Freedom and Human Rights in addition to the unanimous call for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet. With such calls, more than 150 Tibetans have resorted to the extreme step of self immolation to make their calls heard!
