Karmapa Thaye Dorjee Shares Pictures of His Newborn Son

The Karmapa Thaye Dorjee in an official post in the official website and social media shared the pictures of his newborn son to his wife on Saturday. One of contender to the seat of the 16th Karmapa expressed his joy in sharing the first pictures of his newborn son from France according to the official post.

“Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, and Sangyumla Rinchen Yangzom, are delighted to introduce their newborn son Thugsey to you all today.” said the official statement in the website which posted many pictures of the newborn from Dhagpo Kagyu Ling in France.

Karmapa Thaye Dorjee, one of the two proclaimed incarnation of oldest incarnate lineages of Tibetan religious history broke the code of monk-hood and married long time friend, Rinchen Yangzom from Bhutan in March last year. Trinley Thaye Dorje is one of the contesting incarnate lama to be the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa of Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

While many people perceived Thaye Dorjee’s marriage as setting aside from the contention to the seat of the Karmapa lineage and the Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje emerging as the only valid and undisputed 17th Karmapa, Thaye Dorjee has however never admitted it. Besides, he expressed that he has a strong feeling, deep within his heart, that the decision to marry will have a positive impact not only for him, but also for the lineage.

“Sangyumla and I are overjoyed to announce the birth of our first child.” the report quoted Karmapa Thaye Dorjee as saying in the announcement adding, “Now, as a father, I will seek to follow the great example of my own father, His Eminence Mipham Rinpoche, and my predecessors, Choying Dorje, His Holiness the 10th Karmapa, and Khakyab Dorje, His Holiness the 15th Karmapa, who were also parents. The 15th Karmapa fathered three sons, two of whom were recognised as His Eminence 2nd Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and His Holiness the 12th Shamarpa.”
