Dalai Lama Leaves for 19 Day Ladakh Visit En Route Delhi

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has left from his temporal in Dharamsala for the 19 day Ladakh visit via a short stay in Delhi on Friday. The President of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay accompanied the Tibetan spiritual leader to the Gaggal Airport in Dharamsala.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to launch the ‘Happiness Curriculum’ to be taught in more than 1000 schools under the administration of Delhi government on July 2. The new curriculum which is a long endorsement of the spiritual leader will be taught to students from nursery to class VIII, constituting to around 8,00,000 students.

The Tibetan spiritual leader has acknowledged the request from the people of Ladakh for his visit to the region during this summer and the visit will see His Holiness gracing the local people’s event celebrating his 83rd birthday at the Shiwatsel Palace as he will be arriving in Ladakh on July 3, ahead of his birthday.

From the tentative schedule of three weeks stay in Ladakh, His Holiness is also reportedly scheduled to visit Nubri from July 14, where he will give a teaching for local public among other programs. According to the Ladhaki delegates who made the request of the visit, they promised to ensure a complete rest for His Holiness during the summer sojourn.
