A group of Tibetan volunteers from different parts of the world have gathered in the compound of the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamshala to protest against Sikyong Lobsang Sangay on Saturday. Three representatives of the volunteers group called for a press conference on Friday in McLeod Ganj to launch the week long campaign.
“The protest seeks the impeachment of Lobsang Sangay for actions which the protestors say are akin to those of a “dictator”. They are also calling for resignation of member of Parliament Tenpa Yarphel for speaking against the state oracle Nechung and denouncing the Dalai Lama.” said the report in the Tibet Sun on Friday.
According to the three representatives, Mr. Thinley Kalsang, Mr. Thinley Namgyal both from New York and Mr. Chime Dorje from Nepal during a press conference on Friday, they demand a response to the 10 point reasons issued with regard to the termination of former North America Representative Penpa Tsering from office last year. The group also hopes the ongoing parliament would discuss about setting up an independent committee to investigate the issue.
“We are not against the Dalai Lama, we are not against the Central Tibetan Administration, but we are against Lobsang Sangay for his unjust and irresponsible actions.” clarified Mr. Kalsang at the press conference demanding the impeachment of the incumbent Sikyong as well as the Member of Parliament Tenpa Yarphel through a petition they submitted to the parliament.
The Kashag on November 7 appointed the Education Kalon Ngodup Tsering as the new Representative of North America based in Washington DC. The Kashag cited the removal of incumbent representative Mr. Penpa Tsering as per Chapter 1 Article 1(3) of the Tibetan Charter and Article 19(1) of the Tibetan Public Service Commission rules and regulations. It further issued a 10 point clarification for the removal of the representative on November 11.
