As the Tibetan political head was visiting the South Africa, Chinese embassy orchestrated strong protest against his visit by hiring some locals and Chinese, South African MP told that such a protest will bring nothing but further shame and disgrace to China. The protest was staged at the University of Stellenbosch where the Tibetan leader was addressing the students.
A bunch of protesters raised slogans of ‘One China’ carrying placards saying ‘Stop Splitting Tibet from China’ in the University campus despite the fact that His Holiness the Dalai Lama as well as the Central Tibetan Administration renounced the struggle for Tibetan independence but demanding a genuine autonomy under the framework of Chinese leadership, proposing a Middle Way Policy to resolve the issue.
Though protesters which according to CTA’s Department of Information and International Relations, orchestrated by the Chinese Embassy in South Africa, tried to disrupt CTA President Dr. Sangay’s talk in vain and addressed the students and faculty of the University’s law department.
“I’ve walked the same path as South Africa has walked and its the same message I want to communicate: to embrace the values of the constitution. You must all embrace it and uphold it. If South Africa could achieve success, so can Tibet, without violence,” Dr Sangay said.
Reacting to the protest, South African MP Narend Singh responded that the protest would bring nothing but further shame and disgrace to China. Sandy Kalyan, another South African had also responded that the Chinese reaction is like a child throwing a tantrum, retorting that China instead of threatening SA, should go out of SA if it wants to go.
“Yesterday’s staged [Chinese] Embassy protestations against the president of the Tibetan government in exile, Dr Lobsang Sangay, when he visited the law faculty at Stellenbosch University will bring nothing but further shame and disgrace to China as it continues with its policy of oppression against the people of Tibet, no matter where in the world they may be found,” IFP Chief Whip in Parliament, Mr Narend Singh MP said in reaction to the protest at the University according to the official website of CTA.
