PM Modi Will Visit Arunachal Pradesh To Send A Strong Message To China

According to the latest reports, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be visiting the state Arunachal Pradesh to continue sending strong signal to China. The Prime Minister’s date of visit of to the North Eastern state of India though has not been confirmed yet, it is expected to take place in the early part of 2018.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Arunachal Pradesh in the early part of this year, continuing with the policy of sending out a strong signal to China that its repeated protests will not deter Indian leaders from visiting the frontier state.” said the report in Economic Times.

China strongly exhorted its anger when India allowed the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama to visit the state in April last year, where His Holiness graced the hugely Buddhist populated regions of the state with religious teachings. His Holiness also affirmed during the visit to the state that the region was as purely an Indian territory.

“In November and December 2017, visits by defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman and President Ram Nath Kovind to Arunachal Pradesh had drawn sharp reactions from China, which seeks to lay claim to parts of India’s north-easternmost state.” added the report while the Prime Minister’s visit to the state in 2015 attracted strong criticism from China.

China calling the region as ‘Southern Tibet’, claims to be a part of China and according to the report, argues that the place is close to the hearts and religious sentiments of the Tibetan people since being the birth of the sixth Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso. Border disputes between the two Asian giants came into existence following the invasion of Tibet in 1959. The Tibetan plateau played the pivotal role as a buffer zone between these Asian giants in maintaining stability in Asian continent. However, after China annexed Tibet, there has been constant dispute between the Chinese troops stationed along the Tibetan borders and the Indian border forces!
