The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama is on his longest stay ever at the holy place, Bodh Gaya and the local authorities are ensuring his safety by deploying additional security personals from other districts. The Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is said to have directed the authorities to make additional security arrangement for His Holiness’s stay in the state too.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Bodh Gaya on Monday, January 1 to spend more than a month’s period, which is the longest time ever period he stays there. While His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be giving two different teachings to the public in January, the holy pilgrimage site is embraced in a tight security arrangement for the period of his stay.
“The Buddhist spiritual leader’s security umbrella at Bodh Gaya far exceeds the total sanctioned strength of the district police, which is less than 2000. Additional forces have been requisitioned from other districts for his monthlong sojourn, his longest since his asylum in India in the 1950s.” said the report in Times of India.
Today His Holiness made a pilgrimage to the Maha Bodhi temple and offered prayers there in the morning.
The reported also added that the Mahabodhi Temple’s boundary wall has been raised to meet the requirements of foolproof security in addition to installing a recently acquired a state-of-the-art baggage scanning machine at the entrance. A temporary police station has also been opened near the Kalachakra ground in Bodh Gaya for the period of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit.
