His Holiness the Dalai Lama said that the ancient Indian values and knowledge are not ancient, it is most relevant. Stating it relevance to the present world, he said that these ancient Indian values must be revived in the country. He also said that these values if it goes along with the modern science will be worthy for the society.
His Holiness is speaking at the Ambedkar Bhavan in Bengaluru on ‘Social Justice and Dr B R Ambedkar’ in honour of the Indian icon Dr. B. R. Ambedkar during his 125th birth anniversary. The Dalai Lama arrived in the capital of Karanataka state and took part as the key speaker at the state level seminar organized by Social Welfare Department of the state.
“I also consider myself as the son of India as every part of my brain cells are filled with ancient Indian knowledge and my body is because of Indian rice and dal.” said the Dalai Lama. Deprivation from social justice in the name of caste was not from religion, but it was from existing societal systems like feudal system he said.
His Holiness also called on the ancient Indian gurus for their values and knowledge the Tibetans have inherited now. He also reiterated “India is a guru and we are chelas (followers), we are reliable chelas, because we have preserved your ancient knowledge.”.
He said that the social injustice existing in the society in the name of caste can be wiped out through education. He explained that through education we can clean the sense of inferiority complex in the mindset of many people.
He said ancient Indian knowledge and values along with modern technology can do great for the country as one can attain mental comfort with ancient knowledge and physical comfort through modern knowledge.
“Ancient knowledge and values side by side with modern science is worthy for the society,” His Holiness said.
The seminar was also graced by Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Siddharamaiah and leader of Congress party in Lok Sabha, Shri Mallikarjuna Kharge along with representatives of the Karnataka government and hundreds of admirers of the Tibetan Buddhist leader
