Millions Adopting Buddhism In China Says Dalai Lama

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said on Tuesday that millions of people in China were adopting Buddhism, refuting claims about how his teachings did not have any impact in the Communist country.

The Nobel laureate was speaking to reporters at Karshni Ashram Raman Reti in Mathura when he said, “Adopting of Buddhism by 400 million in China is a witness that my preaching is making mass impact on common Chinese.”

He also said that the majority of the people in China were using the social media to listen to his public discourses. The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet has time and again refrained from directly criticising the Chinese leadership. However, with China’s repeated intervention in his movements, a discussion on the subject has been inevitable.

Dalai Lama also stressed that India and China needed to understand each other better for mutual economic growth.

Asked about China objecting to Dalai Lama’s visit in Arunachal Pradesh, he said that he had no idea why China would object to his visit.
