CTA Gets Indian Finance Ministry Assurance Of Help During Kalachakra Post-demonitization

A delegation led by the Sikyong of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay and New Delhi Representative Dongchung Ngodup met Dr. Saurabh Garg, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance India in Delhi yesterday to seek assurance of special help during the Kalachakra Post-demonitization. Sikyong had just arrived back from Bodh Gaya where he went for an inspection of the preparations going on for the upcoming 34th Kalachakra initiations in the beginning of January 2017.

“As per Sikyong’s request to make provision for adequate cash availability by installing ATM machines at the Kalachakra venue and enable sufficient foreign currency exchange for devotees coming from different countries, Dr. Suarabh assured Sikyong of help and assured that the Finance Ministry and Reserve Bank of India will do their part to ensure a successful organising of the Kalachakra.” said the report in the official website of Central Tibetan Administration(CTA).

The cash crunch suffered across India since the surgical strike of demonetising of the 500 and 1000 rupee notes on November 8 had created fears of causing inconvenience and difficulty as around 2,00,000 devotees are expected to attend the auspicious religious event from around the world. It is now a relief as the government of India has assured special help during Kalachakra Post-demonitization.

“The Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar will personally visit Bodhgaya on December 23 to inspect and offer assistance with the preparations.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will arrive at Bodhgaya on December 28 and the initial preparation for Kalachakra will begin on January 3, 2017. The main teaching of Kalachakra will take place from January 10-13, 2017 and the Tenshug offering will be made on January 14, 2017.” said the report.
