Immigration officers at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi has arrested four Tibetans carrying Korean passports. The four Tibetans included three women and a men who were checking in for a flight to Zurich Switzerland at early hours of Wednesday.
The airline staff at the check in noticed the stamps of the visas puts on their passports were counterfeited. Upon informing the Immigration, the officers arrested them for using fake Korean passports.
The Tibetans were headed to Swiss under the Korean names of Lee Wonsic, Lee Seon Hee, Lee Heung Ki and Kim Seok Myeong and were upto clearance to board Swiss Airlines flight (LX 147) to Zurich reported the Times of India. The report also said the Tibetans had acquired the fake passports through a Chinese agent in Nepal for a whopping price of 1.2 lakh rupees each.
“They said that they were flying to Switzerland for better job opportunities. We are trying to trace the agent who gave them the passports. The immigration stamps of arrival and departure at Austria were counterfeit, but the Indian visa was genuine. Travel document used by them have been seized,” said DCP (IGI) Dinesh Kumar Gupta.
The Tibetans in exile are naturally tended by the political circumstances to search better opportunities across the world. However, due to lack of proper documents and valid travel books, this sort of resorts are compelled to happen. This problem is a real situation for many Tibetans in India, Nepal as well as Bhutan.
