Following the meeting of Dharamsala Municipal Corporation, the local administrative body has issued an order for the disconnection of power supply for 29 more hotels in McLeod Ganj on Wednesday. This order to snap the power supply for hotels and restaurants around Dharamsala now added up to a total of 157 such enterprises.
While the Dharamsala MC ordered for immediate cut of the power supplies on Wednesday, the owners of the 29 hotels had approached the body raising the problem bound affect existing tourists staying at those hotels for the long weekend, a week’s time to prepare for the power cut has been relaxed on late Wednesday night.
According to the report in The Tribune, the list of hotels, forwarded by the corporation to the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board for action, includes Hotel Mount View, Mcleo Restaurant, Friends Corner Restaurant, Hotel Bhagsu Heights, Hotel Akash Deep, Chhaya Guest House, Ashoka Restaurant, Black Magic, Hotel Lhasa, Arjun House, RV Inn, Starwood Cottage, Him Queen Hotel, Hotel Vaikunth, Jogibara Road, Ekant Lodge, Hotel Asian Plaza, Hotel Sahil Plaza, Hotel Surya, McLeodganj, Krishna Guest House, Hotel M, Pehelwan Dhaba, Sai Cottage, Verma House, Building of Tejinder Singh and Bella Heights.
The action being taken according to Municipal commissioner of Dharamshala Corporation Sandeep Kadam is against those who have violated the approved building designs as per law. They have been issued notices in the recent past to explain their illegal constructions, pending which their power and water connections would be served.
Besides the Dharamsala MC, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) had also issued notice to the said hotels to furnish new No Objection Certificates (NOC) from the corporation pending which their power connections would be disconnected.
